Tomorrow is all about Roller Derby, the Bombshells are entertaining the Gainesville Roller Rebels in what was supposed to be the final bout of the season, but popular demand has extended it by a couple of games… Glyph (G-ville announcer) will come down and help me with the call of the bout. Today, Bombshell superstar and super-wife, Ms. Esther Gin N Juice is out at the annual Women’s Equity Celebration conference and luncheon. After that she will take her girl power to the Honda dealership to try and work out a cash for clunkers deal for Blanca before the program ends. That said, I am home alone and therefore have been posting like crazy. I had to give Kazmir some positive words after a great night on the mound yesterday and I have a ton of trades to catch up on.
My subject for now will be Sarah AKA McCann Can Triple at the Rookie (baseball) Card Collector blog. She had ripped a fair amount of Ginter before giving up on it. I had pulled a triple swatch card of Brian McCann and we worked out a deal. She was worried because she hadn’t done any big trades yet. If I could offer some advice-pack the individual cards a little better. Put penny sleeves on the first and last cards and put them in team set bags. A few of the cards ended up with pretty rounded corners, but since I never plan on selling my Rays cards or my Ginter set, it’s not that big a deal… On to the cards…
There was good number of National Prides, SPs and singles in there. I didn’t get a count, but I think she helped with about 50 cards
including Samuel Morse, tap, tap, tap.
Number 252 of Lastings Milledge is also included. He is wearing a Nats uniform, but was traded to the Pirates for Nyjer Morgan in June. Milledge is wearing number 85 (for his year of birth) and is the only big leaguer that I can recall to wear that number. In 1997 Milledge (who is from Bradenton where I live) led the Manatee East All Stars to the Little League World Series. I interviewed him back then (he was 11) and it was an unusual experience trying to do a serious interview with someone so young. When he was 16 Baseball America named him the best 16 year old prospect in the country and the Mets drafted him with the 12th overall pick in the 2003 draft. Since then he has been riddled with injuries and hasn’t come close to meeting expectations, but the dude CAN HIT. Card #250 shows last remaining

Card #18 is of Clyde Parris who played Negro League ball starting in 1946, in the pic he is shown wearing a Cerveza Balboa jersey-I would play for that team! The last Ginter I will show is card 25
of everyone’s favorite third baseman Evan Longoria. She sent me quite a few Longos, thanks! A lot of people don’t wanna give up Longo or Price cards which can sometimes make being a team collector difficult. Longo squinting, like he is trying hard to read the bottom line on the eye exam chart or maybe trying to focus on his own Allen and Ginter want list, who knows. On to the rest of the cards… Last week I posted a trade from the Night Owl (hoo) sent over some OPC cards that I needed for the Rays team set. I put a list of what I still needed and Sarah knocked it down by two cards with these two Gabes.
Gross with a black border and Kapler in white. A few months ago someone had sent me some of the black 2009 Topps cards from Wal Mart and I loved them. I haven’t seen any since, until today. I now own 22 Longo/Price, 204 Andy Sonnanstine and 296 of high flying Reid Brignac.
She left a note that she was sorry that she didn’t have too many Bartletts or Crawfords, but she did score big with this
2008 Upper Deck Jason Bartlett numbered 666 which is new to me. She scored with a Joe Maddon
card that I somehow didn’t have yet (I really thought I had the market cornered on ’07 Topps) of him trotting on field and not in very good focus. She also hooked up some older cards and ex-Rays, too.
Dewon Brazleton was a favorite of mine, still is actually. He was the Devil Rays opening day starter in 2005 and he took a no-hitter further into a game than any Tampa Bay pitcher in their history. You can find him pitching for the Atlantic League’s Camden Riversharks.
I really like the Topps 50th Anniversary All Rookie Team cards, I just have had bad luck pulling anyone good, but Sarah helped me with card AR82 of current Red Sox outfielder Rocco Baldelli. I will close this trade post out with the oldest card in the package, a
2002 Donruss (card 104) of former slugger Greg Vaughn. GV hit 50 homers for the Reds in 1999 and had over 350 for his career which included 3 seasons with Tampa Bay. Last year was his first year of Hall of Fame eligibility and he fell off the ballot. He was one of 3 players to not receive a single vote from the writers, the others being Ron Gant and Dan Pleasac. His cousin Mo Vaughn received 6 votes. That is the trade; I am a whole lot closer to filling up my binder of Allen and Ginter thanks to Sarah. Go check out her blog and help her out. I think she is working on Upper Deck X and she will gladly give homes to your Chipper and McCann cards. The Rays are locked up in a 3 run tie game with the Rangers. Last night in Bradentucky the Nuclear Bombshells entertained the Ocala Cannibals... A few months back the Bombshells beat Ocala on the road in a very hard fought bout. The Cannibals had payback and redemption on their mind, but the Bombshells were set to defend their ranking in front of the home crowd... It was the first bout for newcomers Red Crush and Savanah's Resurrection and they were joined by all the Bombshells regulars... The line-up of Skitzo Skater, Shitz N Gigglez, Guiness the Menace, Cajun Sinsation, Maura Cowbell, Motion 2 Strike Her, Phylla Bust Her, Rebel Hell Yeah, Malice in Rollerland, Crash Test Barbie, Sin Da Roller and Poison Apple... The 14 skater cast came together perfectly under the coaching of Blaque Jac and the Mighty Thor. 
The Bombshells took the lead early and defended it through half-time, leading by as many as 28 at one point. Crash Test Barbie and Malice in Rollerland handled the majority of the jamming duties while Poison Apple and Shitz N Gigglez set the tone defensively with some explosive, amazing, out of nowhere and legit hard hits. Through the second half it was a see-saw of lead changes with Ocala leading by as many as ten points at one point. The Bombshells were relentless and set the pace and showed off their speed and endurance. 
When the 2-minute mark was hit the Bombshells had a 1 point lead and it seemed like there would be just 1 more jam to decide it all. Some fast thinking by the coaching staff, a "no-huddle" offense and a few well placed time-outs spread things out more than normal. Three jams elapsed in just over 1 minute of clock time and with 3 seconds left on the period clock the Cannibals had a 1 point lead. It seemed like it was all over but Bradentucky had one timeout left and were able to get one last jam off. Crash Test Barbie put the team's fate on her shoulders behind 4 of the best blockers on the team. Barbie battled to become lead jammer, scored 4 points and called off the jam and ended the game with a BOMBSHELLS VICTORY!!!!!!!!!! 
It was a down-to-wire complete nail biter and the Bombshells came together completely as a team and earned the W. Both squads played near perfect games, executed and did everything their coaches asked. The penalty boxes were empty nearly all night long and all 28 skaters had the bout of their careers. At the end the Bombshells were victorious, they improved their record to 3-1 and remained perfect at home. 
The Cannibals fought hard, but someone had to lose. The post game awards went to Sweden Sour of the Cannibals as best blocker for Ocala, while Yoshibettamove took the award as Ocala's top jammer. On the Bradentucky Side Shitz N Gigglez took the best blocker award. She missed the last few minutes of the game, on the sidelines with a knee injury. 
It was a scary time as Gigglez broke her ankle in a bout 2 years ago. Fortunately her surgically repaired robo-ankle was uneffected. Still she had to leave the rink on crutches... For the Bombshells, who went with a 2 jammer attack which meant zero rest for their hard working jammers. It was Malice in Rollerland who took the trophy as top-jammer for the night and the final trophy, for Coaches Choice MVP went to the super fast Crash Test Barbie who was on the floor to score the decisive final two points. It was an amazing bout, down to the wire and totally intense... Every single point mattered and each one was hard fought. The final score was 181-178. My voice is almost completely gone and I can only imagine how sore everyone is right no... All I can say is WOW and HOLY FREAKIN' DERBY!!!! I owe a big thank you to Glyph Huckster for traveling all the way from Gainesville, Florida to call this bout with me and of course a HUGE thank you to all of the refs, volunteers, coaches and of course the NUCLEAR BOMBSHELLS!!!!

As loyal Troll readers know the Bradentucky Bombers are the ORIGINAL roller derby league of the Sun Coast. 
From Parrish to Venice and everywhere in between. 
Recently an upstart league began play out of Sarasota, Florida. The town which borders Bradenton, AKA Bradentucky. 
The 2 teams met several months back in Bradentucky and the result was a huge win for the Bradentucky Bomber's Nuclear Bombshells. 
On Saturday August 7 the two teams met again, this time in Sarasota. 
The Sarasota Roller Girls billed this bout the "Big Payback". 
I don't know what the payback was, but the end result was another big Bombshells win. 
It was Malice in Rollerland's (29th?) birthday and she celebrated by scoring at will all night long and winning top jammer honors. 
Hell, even unlikely jammer Blaque Jac was lapping the competition and scoring 21 the hard way! 
She took MVP blocker honors and left the pink n black BLACK AND BLUE! 
The scoreboard at their rink only showed two digits so if you look in the background, please know that the score was 108-55 at that point. 
Just wanted to show off some pics and give props to my ladies. In the pics the Bombshells are in white. These aren't the best photos in the world, but they do show the dominance. 
These are action shots of a 5 on 5 bout and when you see nothing but white, you know there is a trail of SRG behind them somewhere. 
Oh, by the way, the Legendary Esther Gin N Juice did skate a little bit in this one and yes that sign from the ref means she is the LEAD jammer. 
Her winning smile says it all. 
Crash Test Barbie, Malice, Blaque Jac, Shitz N Gigglez, Foxy Felon, EGNJ, Rebel Hell Yeah, Calamity Jam, Sinda Roller, Skitzo Skater, Alley Capone, Mimi Sha'Boom and all the Bombshells rule! 
Case closed. For those inclined, our next home bout is on September 5th. You should be there regardless of geography. Like I said, the Bombers rule - it's worth the trip. Go Bombers! Go Rays. Out.
